The New Year celebration begins with the new moon on the first day of the New
Year and ends on the full moon 15 days later. Traditionally, New Year’s
celebrations are a time for friends and family to come together and wish
happiness and good fortune and pay respect to our ancestors.
Dragon Characteristics and
The Dragon represents a commanding force over the elements
of nature. The mystical Dragon is a key
figure within ancient Chinese folklore as master of the wind, rain, rivers and
seas. The Yang forces of creation, transformation,
and growth are brought together under this symbol of the powerful Dragon.
Auspicious Dragons tend to be optimistic, confidant, energetic and
courageous. They are intelligent, innovative, self-assured, forthright and proud, with a drive for success and a
tendency towards perfectionism. Those
born under this sign are thought to be self-inspired trailblazers, enthusiastic
in the face of adventure.Out of the 12
animals in the Chinese Zodiac, the Dragon best symbolizes the principle of
“expecting the unexpected,” as Dragons seem to be readily equipped for
challenge and change. They blaze through unpredictable situations with a
tenacious elegant grace.
2012 – Year of the Water Dragon
Given the nature of the Dragon, we can expect this to be a
year of extraordinary events; a year in which dreams and visions will be put
into action, and innovation and adventure will be common themes.Amidst the excitement and enthusiasm of the
Dragon’s fearless influence, reflective caution is advised as the Water
Dragon’s proclivity towards optimism may at times be over-the-top.This tendency to over-optimism can best be tempered by stepping back, taking a deep breath, and looking at the big
picture to consider paths of action before
initiating these next great adventures, journeys and projects.
